GeoJuice is an open website. Most image banks lock their treasures away or watermark their images obtrusively. GeoJuice wants as many people as possible to share in our wonder and curiosity. It will also help teachers if the images are available online for homework / revision purposes. Towards that end our watermarks – “GeoCom” which is being superceded by “GeoJuice” – are positioned peripherally in order not to interfere with the viewing of the image. Acknowledgement of copyright is central to our terms and conditions and every effort has been made to contact the owners of copyright. In a few cases GeoJuice has received no reply and will therefore be happy to respond to any request from the copyright holder to change the acknowledgement or to remove the image from our site. GeoJuice is committed to pointing geography teachers towards the best sources of information and images possible.

Only rights managed “GeoCom” and “GeoJuice” images are available on the CDs. Purchase of the CDs entitles the consignee to use the images for educational purposes within their educational establishment. GeoJuice will only deliver to educational addresses.

GeoJuice encourages the development of departmental image banks. The CDs should be copied to a hard disc and then kept as archive material. Reorders due to CD failure (common after about seven years) will be priced around a pound as long as stocks are available. GeoJuice aims to provide value for money and as our subscribers list gets longer either “free” CD-ROMs will be distributed or prices will drop. There are large savings to be made in large quantity productions.

Our first project for subscribers is called “Home Area”. Up to 20 images plus text on some aspect of the geography of your home area. The best efforts will be posted over the next couple of years. The long-term aim for GeoJuice is to reach an equilibrium of around 30,000 high quality teaching and learning images where new material replaces the least used material on the site. Remember though that a lot of images and graphics will only be available to subscribers on the CD! On this website you do, however, see most of what is available, albeit in a smaller format. Our game plan may change. It may be changed by you. We’ll see.
